Cleaning Up The Mess

Has anyone out there been paying attention to the developing standards of W3C and their efforts at improving web compatibility and design? Well, I wasn't. Until I read an interesting article over at Kuro5shin about Fear of a XHTML World. Well, that opened my eyes! I've long thought of Cascading Style Sheets as irrelevant and redundant, but with the changes involved in migrating from SGML to XML parsers, and the loss of familiar tags like <CENTER>, I wanted to keep current with the standards as much as possible.

So I'm redesigning my site to be XHTML compliant. Now, given that there is only one page for Psidonia.org proper at this time, that isn't too much of an issue, but the Next Trek section was completely coded using boring, old-school approaches that have no place in this wonderful, modern world of ours.

So I'll have to redesign that too.

I also have to start putting my databases to work for the rest of the site. Adding article and discussion support, as well as the random-quote function and other neat gimmicks. Like games. Ever since I set up Psion's Other Dimensions, I wanted to write my own CGI scripts to handle simple gaming. Unfortunately, my host didn't let me use anything but their own, predefined scripts. So no games. Now that I am my own host, that can change.

Alas, in my circle of friends, Lisa has beaten me to that punch. Stay away from her site, it will corrupt you.

Happy Holly-daze, all!

I Have a Question

Heh heh heh...

Another test, another Quatloo.

Is there anything in the above that is wrong? Do some of the statements make your blood boil? Do you want to give someone a piece of your mind? After all, you know more about these issues than almost anyone, and people should be listening to you!

Alas, you have yet to take the time to log in or register yourself.

Go on, join up! Become a citizen of Psidonia and let these nimrods know what's really going on!

(If you're having trouble figuring it out, there are log in and registration controls over there on the left side of the page...no, your other left. That's it, click the pretty buttons...)
